European Institute of Cyprus

In the era of automated and fast digital communication and information, the European Institute of Cyprus, (ΕΙC), maps out the route for the qualitative and timely dissemination of information regarding the EU and its financing programmes, thus initiating a new tool of information and guidance for the Cyprus citizen.

At the same time, the EIC intends to occupy itself, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other interested bodies, in the study of ways for the development of the European Neighborhood Policy that the EU has outlined for neighbouring countries of the Mediterranean, Eastern Europe and extending to Central Asia. EIC, through this new assignment, shall form the bridge of communication in Cyprus between the government and the private sector for the development and disbursement of funds within the frameworks of this programme.

As the central body for the development of the European programmes, along with the innovative computerised information bank which is accessible via the Internet, EIC intends to open up new paths of information with reliable and up-to-date briefings regarding policies, legislation and mainly the financing programmes of the EU. Initiating the revamped web portal of EIC, www.eicy.eu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Board of Regents, Mr. Georgios Lillikas, stated, inter alia: «This central body aspires to offer guidance to the Cypriot citizen within the labyrinth of the community’s procedures and processes in order to find the appropriate programme for the financing of either individual initiatives or in collaboration with persons, organizations or social teams of other member states of the Union. ».

In combination with expert staff and the establishment of a flexible, practical databank information system, Europe’s Line (8000112), EIC has the possibility to provide consulting services to anyone who may be interested in financing opportunities.

«The new portal comprises a multi-tasking tool which shall help us to proceed with innovative concepts, not only within the territory of Cyprus but also abroad», stated the General Manager of the European Institute, Mr. Neofytos Chrysohoos. He also announced that the EIC shall initiate a public information campaign throughout all Cyprus. The General Manager of the Planning Office, Mr. Andreas Moleskis, mentioned that the his office, being a co-ordinating body for the participation of Cyprus in various European projects, shall assist this new effort that the European Institute of Cyprus undertakes.

The portal has been designed and developed by Dynamic Works and it is being constantly updated with new Funding Opportunities with the use of EasyConsole Web Content Management System.
